The combination of blue and gold as official colors in California were first used as school colors by the University of California, Berkeley in 1875. Blue represented the sky and gold the color of the precious metal found by forty-niners in the state's hills. The Secretary of State began using blue and gold ribbons with the state seal on official documents as early as 1913. Secretary of State Frank M. Jordan suggested making blue and gold the official state colors and in 1951, the State Legislature passed legislation to that effect. The golden trout (Salmo agua-bonita) is native only to California and was named the official state fish by act of the State Legislature in 1947. California Indians cherished the poppy as both a source of food and for oil extracted from the plant. It became the state flower in 1903. Every year April 6 is California Poppy Day, and Governor Wilson proclaimed May 13-18, 1996, Poppy Week. Benitoite was designated as the official State Gemstone in 1985. Sometimes called the " blue diamond", it was first discovered near the headwaters of the San Benito River. LA Talk Radio Network
LA Talk Radio Network is the brainchild of Sam Hasson, a Southern California entrepreneur who set out to get his own radio show, even though nobody in radio knew him. On January 1, 2008, Sam decided to carry his vision forward and form a small Internet Station which featured talk that listeners could easily relate to and enjoy while working or surfing at home. On February 4, 2008, BBS Talk Radio was launched in a small but comfortable office in a luxurious high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles. Broadcasting from the 36th floor with a panoramic view of LA was so exhiliarting, that several hosts quickly jumped on the wagon. On June 4, 2008, the young station was renamed LA Talk Radio and relaunched as a completely Independent Internet Radio Station. On January 5, 2009, LA Talk Radio introduced a second channel to allow even more new hosts to broadcast their programs on the radio. Channel One Call-In telephone number is 1-323-203-0815 and the Channel Two Call In telephone number is 1-818-602-4929. Send us an E-Mail ! If you need customer assistance please contact 1-818-298-2040.
